Key steps taken by the government to revive and promote Food and Agriculture sector.

The food and agriculture sector is the backbone of a country like India. Operation greens will be extended to ALL fruits and vegetables from tomatoes, Onions, Potato. This will help improve the supply chain of the perishable commodities in a difficult time and fetch a better price for farmers. The scheme also will feature the 50% subsidy on transportation from surplus to deficit area and 50% subsidy on storage, cold storage.

Barrier-free interstate trade of agriculture produced approved and No restriction on selling produce to only license holders in APMC will help farmers fetch a better price of the produce. Will also enhance the supply chain.

Essential commodity including cereals, edible oils, oilseeds, pulses, etc to be deregulated with the amendment of to essential commodity act.

INR 10,000 crore scheme launched for the formalization of micro food enterprises. This will help them do technical up-gradation, attain the higher standard, and grow further. This will also help to strengthen the local supply chain. #vocalforlocal

The government decided to provide an additional Rs 30,000cr working capital to the farmers through NABARD. This decision was taken due to the unfavorable situation because of COVID 19 pandemic. This is over and above the Rs 90000cr to be provided by NABARD for the current year. The facility will be front end loaded on top facility to 33 State cooperative banks, 351 district cooperative banks 43 regional rural banks.

1 Lakh crore allocated to improve Agri infrastructure to improve farm-gate infrastructure for farmers including a storage facility, cold chain, post-harvest infrastructure, and aggregation points ( Primary Agricultural cooperative societies, Farmer producer organization, Agriculture entrepreneurs, Start-ups, etc.

Rs 2 lakh crore credit boost to 2.5cr farmers under the Kisan Credit Card Scheme.

As the demand for milk reduced by 20-25%. Cooperatives procured 560Lakh Liters per day against the daily sale of 360 LLPD.

New scheme to provide interest subvention @2% per annum to dairy cooperatives to meet the working capital.

INR 20000 crore approved for the benefit of fishermen under PMMSY. 9000 cr for Infra. and 11000 cr for marine activities, Inland fisheries, and Aquaculture. Operation of marine capture fisheries and aquaculture has been relaxed to cover inland fisheries

National Animal Disease control program for foot and mouth disease. It ensures 100% vaccination of cattle, goats, sheep, and pig populations.

An animal husbandry Infrastructure development fund of 15000cr will be provided. This will boost the Dairy sector.

Gov. grants INR 4000cr to promote Herbal cultivation. The national medical plant board(NMPB) will bring an 800-hectare area by developing a corridor of medical plants along the banks of Ganga.

500cr approved for the Infrastructure Development of the Beekeeping activity. This will help increase the production of honey and wax. This will also help the agricultural sector by improving the yield and crop quality through pollination. 

The above-stated policies, if properly implemented, will change the face of Food and Agriculture sector of India
